Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is 102 floors high.
It is 1,453 feet, 8 9/16 inches high - to the top of the lightning rod.
It was built in 1930/1931.

On clear days visitors can see the surrounding countryside for distances up to 80 miles, looking into the neighboring states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as New York.

How long will we have to wait to go to the top?
The first line you will encounter is the security checkpoint. The wait for this line will vary depending on how many visitors there are that day. All visitors MUST go through the security checkpoint.

The second line is for the ticket booth. If the weather is really beautiful, it may take longer, but it is worth the wait. Plan on at least 2 hours for your total stay (minimum) and you will have a great - and relaxing time!

The Observatory is open from 8:00am until 2:00am daily with the last elevator going up at 1:15am.

The line to get to the top via the elevators cannot be avoided, however. This will vary depending on number of visitors as well.
